uPVC FAQs
uPVC is a tough, durable material and if well maintained, it can last up to 30 years. Over time, uPVC windows start to show their age when it comes to their energy rating compared to brand new windows and coloured uPVC windows can fade. If you buy uPVC windows from Apex Glazing, you’ll get a 10-year guarantee on the sealed unit and a 10-year guarantee on parts and labour.
Painting uPVC windows can be a challenge and we don’t recommend it. Doing so may invalidate any guarantees you may have.
It’s best to clean your uPVC windows with a sponge and warm soapy water. Washing up liquid is ideal for this and using a product like Windex once dry will get the glass to really shine. For more information, read our complete guide to cleaning uPVC windows.
Yes, uPVC comes recommended for window frames by various government bodies and organisations. Apex uPVC windows carry an impressive range of accreditations including multiple BSI Kitemarks, Secured by Design police initiative, FENSA and BBA approval. You can view a full list of our window security features here.
Yes, you can replace the handles on your uPVC windows, but you’ll need to take several measurements – such as spindle length and step height to make sure your chosen handles fit. If you need further advice, then please speak to our team.
Yes, shutters can be fitted to uPVC windows. We recommend that the frame is attached to the window recess at the sides, top and bottoms of the window. Drilling into the uPVC may invalidate your warranty.
